Count Me In wins 2019 Omega Alpha Healthy Horse Award at Caledon Equestrian Park

Sandy Lupton’s Count Me In took received a special honour during the Canadian Show Jumping Tournament after being named Omega Alpha Pharmaceuticals 2019 Healthy Horse Award winner.

The handsome 12-year-old Hanoverian Warmblood, who is a regular in the Grand Prix Ring at Caledon Equestrian Park (CEP), was an obvious choice for this year’s honour.

While usually sharing the spotlight on course with Canadian rider Beth Underhill, this award highlights the great care groom Kath Long and the rest of Underhill’s barn staff take to keep him in top-notch competition form.

“He’s been at Beth’s since he was seven. I’ve been looking after him for the last two years,” said Long. “I very much enjoy it. He’s never dull. He keeps it interesting all the time and he’s a very clever creature. He’s very fun.”

Underhill and Count Me In have had a great 2019 season at CEP, racking up several impressive performances including wins in both the $36,500 Open Welcome and $72,000 FEI Grand Prix during the Caledon National CSI2* in May.

“Over the last two years, he’s really started to step up to the bigger Grand Prix (classes),” she added. “He did his first five-star last year and he won it.”
