Sam Walker and Acardi Du Houssoit Z close out exciting 2018 CEP show-jumping season with big Grand P

The 2018 show-jumping season at Caledon Equestrian Park came to a close September 30, with Sam Walker and Acardi Du Houssoit Z taking home top prize in the Fall Finale Grand Prix – presented by RAM Equestrian.

The final show on the schedule was hosted in the park’s indoor ring between Sept. 26-30.

The 16-year-old Walker, who hails from Nobleton, Ont. and Acardi Du Houssoit Z beat out a starting field of 12 competitor on Saturday (Sept. 29) for the red ribbon in the Grand Prix.

Susan Horn and Egano Van Het Slogenhof placed second, with Veronica Bot and Quidam's Caprice M rounding the top three finishers on the course designed by Canadian course designer, Jennifer Ferguson.

A day earlier, Walker finished a close second to winners Hugh Graham and Knock Out 3E in Friday’s $5,000 1.40m Jumper Welcome – presented by Stonewood Management. Stephanie Morrison and her ride Charmeur P finished third in that event.

The 2018 Fall Finale also featured a Saturday slate of OHJA Grand Prix medal classes. Ainsley Dawdy and First Date got things rolling with a win in the Grand Prix Pony Medal Finals.

Leopold and Shannon Robinson followed that up with a winning performance in the Grand Prix Amateur Medal Finals, followed by Emma Saunders and Loverboy’s victory in the Grand Prix Children's Medal Finals. Sophia Tauro and King Bee were champs in the Grand Prix Junior Medal Finals to close things out.

Walker won his second class on the day on Saturday — this time riding Patricia Raynes’ Houdini — beating out the field in the OHJA Jumper Medal Final.

While competition at the park has come to a close for another season, there is still one special event remaining on the schedule. Tickets are still available for the fast-approaching, two-day teaching Masterclass with Charlotte Dujardin CBE running Oct. 20-21.

Dujardin is an elite British dressage rider and gold medalist at the 2012 London Olympics and 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
