The EQUUS Film Festival Gallops to Canada - Headwaters Horse Country

May 10, 2018 -- The EQUUS Film Festival gallops along with tour stops scheduled across the United States and an exclusive engagement in Canada. Founded in 2013, the annual Film Festival takes place in New York City in November. In 2017 the EQUUS Film Festival presented over 80 films and over 60 WINNIE Awards including Equestrian Art Film, Director, Documentary, Commercial, International, Music Video, People's Choice and Best of Festival. The next tour stop is Headwaters located in Ontario, Canada, July 20-22, 2018.
Headwaters Tourism is proud to announce that the Headwaters region of Ontario will be the first and only Canadian stop of the highly acclaimed EQUUS Film Festival. For three days in July 2018, the historic Town Hall Opera House in downtown Orangeville will serve as the main stage venue for 19 films from across the world, celebrating the horse and the art of film-making.
Hundreds of films have gained recognition, found international distribution, and reached global audiences via the Festival. Film holds the power to experience a story in the most compelling way. The Festival empowers filmmakers to share their unique stories in the most optimal setting, a movie theatre. Founder and Director, Lisa Diersen said, "My goal is to show the world how horses can bring everyone together regardless of race, age, gender, abilities or disabilities. I am thrilled to partner with Headwaters Tourism to bring the Festival to Canada to share the wonderful world of horses and everything they can do to enrich our lives. I can't think of a better location than Headwaters Horse Country to share the art of equestrian storytelling."
